Born in Ankara in 1980, Burak Akbaş completed his undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering at the Middle East Technical University (2002) and earned an MBA from Bilkent University (2005). He began his career in the food industry before joining Meteksan Defence in 2006 as a Business Development Engineer.
With nearly 20 years of experience in business development, strategic planning, sales, and marketing in the defense industry, Burak Akbaş has been serving as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Meteksan Defence since 2024.
Throughout his career, Akbaş has made significant contributions to the company’s growth. He played a pivotal role in expanding the company's presence in the domestic market, later leading the establishment of international sales organization and overseeing its export activities. Under his leadership, the company successfully expanded exports to over 20 countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Additionally, his efforts in corporate communication and brand awareness helped the company rank among Turkey’s top 5 defense industry companies, as reflected in social media and brand index data.
In 2018, Burak Akbaş was elected as a Board Member of Teknokent Defense Industry Cluster (TSSK), one of Turkey’s largest defense industry NGOs. He was later elected Vice Chairman of the Board in 2022. An active speaker at conferences, panels, universities, and press events, Burak Akbaş also conducts research on defense and security policies and defense technologies.
